Portraits of the working bar by a lawyer who watched them at work for forty years.
About this section
"Lawyers on Parade" is Burt Hanson's running portrait of the legal profession he gave his working life to. The essays are part affectionate, part exasperated, part argumentative; they document attorneys who deserved to be remembered, attorneys who did not, and the strange culture of professional ritual that the modern American bar has built around itself. Burt was particularly interested in the solo practitioners working out of converted dental offices in places like St. Cloud and Mankato. He admired them.
