Editorial Standards
Updated June 14, 2026
Law and Everything Else is an independent publication covering American law. This page explains how we report, source, and correct our work.
What we cover
We report on and explain the legal news that affects ordinary people: court decisions, legislation, regulatory action, the legal industry, and the fast-moving intersection of law and technology. We are not a law firm and we do not provide legal advice.
Sourcing and accuracy
We aim to ground every story in primary sources: court filings, statutes, official records, and on-the-record interviews. When a fact cannot be established from a reliable source, we say so rather than guess. We link to source material wherever we can so readers can check our work.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it and note the change. See our Corrections policy for how to flag an error and how we handle it.
Bylines and independence
Every article carries a real byline. Our writers are paid for their work and publish under their own names. Editorial decisions are made by the team. We accept no payment from law firms, advocacy groups, or any party with an interest in our coverage, and we do not run sponsored content. See our Ethics Statement for more.
